Love being able to attend these exclusive & expensive classes AND learn from the best in the business!
-
I actually found this session interesting especially how Dillon described how to position the hose to rinse away or more effective way to remove loose dirt, sort of back to front with the water . Focus being pushing water away from you.
-
This episode got to me a bit… At 31, i was always taught ways to clean and wax a car and during my early years until now, with all yhe research, buying the products(high quality products) that are beneficial to paint and the car, going to a few seminars, and obviously working on my cars and doing it THE RIGHT WAY. It makes me feel like Ive been doing this process wrong for soo long.. I learn new things everyday and in this segment, I’ve learned ALOT and its interesting knowing that there are some ways that you can still wash your car improperly..
-
I hope you have more of this conversation. Very interesting. What wheel cleaner that doesn’t stink was he referring to?
-
Interesting conversation, especially the foaming/washing stuff. Makes me think, for sure. Thanks for sharing this kind of content.
-
thanks Matt! I love that you provide this training footage!! My desire to always be learning drives me everyday to find quality content - which you have shown in your multiple Rupes videos. It’s great to hear these guys discuss the Truth about products -
-
I used a nanoskin clay mitt this past weekend for the first time. Absolute game changer for me. Got through a panel maybe 10x faster than clay. Came back w Adams white clay to test and zero contamination was left. No noticable marring but hard paint
-
interesting discussion when comes to foam. if I’m in a pinch at work or the cottage i’ll use adams shampoo in a garden hose foam cannon to do a maintenance wash for pollen or bugs or rain spots, with extra soap on the mitt for lubrication. I’ve found that less foam not only cleans just as good, but the rinsing process is much easier and the car becomes easier to dry. Adam’s gets EVERYWHERE, under the trunk, gas cap, you name it. its worth talking about.
-
Thank you for another excellent video Matt. to me clay bars pick up more and make the paint smoother but clay towels by hand are okay for cheaper jobs. you are absolutely right Dylan about foam with car wash shampoo’s. foam is not necessary on glossy hard surfaces. the less there is the better and the less the SLS in it the better. I do not snow foam at all and do not believe in it or bucket washing with or without grit guards. It’s BS. Zero bucket method with soap, multiple mitts or more or ONR with zero bucket. more efficient, safer and faster
-
I know opinions change based on experience and learning curves, but Dylan did help sell a lot of detail spray in his day LOL.
-
Whoa 😲 this was an eye opening experience for me. Great video, that instantly becomes one of my favourites. I think I will watch it over and over again.
-
Very educational and good to see it from different points of view. Going to stick to OG spec of washing and enjoy the process.
-
he just blew my mind with rinsing the dirt off from the opposite angle
-
This is going to save a lot of money. Thank you, from a beginner!
-
What would you do directly after claying? Would you just dry the vehicle prior to polishing or wash away any clay lubricant first?
-
Incredibly informative.. especially their opinion on foaming soaps.
-
Thank you for this! Made me view certain things differently.
-
I just found an very nice process- Mixing ONR with my foam wash.
-
Seems like there is way more thinking involved in this process. I am a one pad guy, but i keep my car clean.
-
Lot’s of great information. Thank you for sharing
-
Dylan made a great point on the process, you have some YouTube detailers purposely skipping steps.because they wanna “maximize profits” because after 30.years they realize they hate detailing, which I say if it took you 30 yrs to realize this, you never liked it in the first place and you should kindly get the hell out of detailing and go do something else like..push your own…LUXURY towels and “products”
-
The Car Cleaning Guru is an example of a Euro wash fanatic!!!!!
-
I’ve been saying for years that these snow foams/foam cannons/pre washes are completely useless and a money/time waster. Best non foaming soap ever…ONR
-
The multiple pad method is by far more efficient than the 2 bucket method since 1. It does not change the dilution ratio of the recommended amount that the soap manufacturer suggest because youll only be putting a dry mit in the soap bucket. 2. It saves a ton of time since you wont need to rinse/wring out any of the mits while on the job. 3. You will also be guaranteed to not have any contamination in your soap bucket that will act as a minor abrassive alongside the existing dirt that is already on the car that you are trying to wash off. Only using clean pads means you’ll only be abrading the panel with just the dirt on the car, nothing else.
-
My dad always said, “Don’t make suds because that’s putting the soap on top of the water. It needs to be in the water to do its job.”
-
I have just sat through 35min of listening to a bunch of guys talking about washing cars and found it absolutely fascinating. How sad am I?????
-
Thanks Matt… Taught this Dog a new trick
-
Instead of cutting bottles open, I rinse them with warm water.
-
Have a look at the snow foam test on the Forensic Detailing Channel. Completely disproved what he says about snow foams cleaning ability. Some of them do squat and people’s expectations are often too high but the good ones, like Bilt Hamber definatley clean without agitation.
-
So pH neutral soap works only if agitating, and even then, it probably doesn’t take off every bit of road grime, anyway. Catch 22. Go for stronger soap, but then have to reapply sealants/waxes? I always figured the foam (pH neutral) stuff was for show only…..
-
Is there a draw back of using alcohol diluted for panel prep ? Will it dry out the paint ?
-
Nasty Walmart bucket? I’m not a expert detailer, although Walmart does have good buckets. I bought 2 recently that don’t have grit guards, because I rinse mitts and brushes with my pressure washer. Walmart also sells buckets that have grit guards. Every Walmart that I’ve shopped at doesn’t have both.
-
Matt - is it ok to use some rubbing compund by hand on just a few very light surface smudges (looks like maybe the car cover put some surface level almost smudge lines in the top coat). There are no scratches or swirls and in this little spot, would not want to use a machine. is it possible to do it by hand?
-
Maintenance wash, 100% 2 buckets. One bucket with soap and water and one empty bucket for your 4-5 used wash mitts. No use for buying grit guards. Absolutely no contamination unless your mitts or bucket haven’t been cleaned properly after using.
-
Matt, I think a lot of the things in this video here just aren’t for you, no offense. These other guys are likely washing nasty cars who may have never been washed. A single pad just isn’t ideal for cars that are in terrible shape.
-
Would that be BILT HAMBER clay bar Dylan is talking about ?
-
will you guys use the 2 bucket method for the prep of paint correction?
-
Damn, all of my buckets don’t match. I guess I I should spend the extra money so they have a fancy logo on them.
-
Love these 2 guys, hope the show pony’s didn’t get offended 👍👍
-
Great information!!
-
How did I miss this a year ago??
-
Matt you need to get -white details -interviewed on these topics.
-
WHAT????? You’re saying I shouldn’t use Brillo pads to wash my Ferrari, damn it! Curse you Dylan :]]]]
-
Sometimes I feel like every foam except Bilt Hamber is a gimmick, well maybe 95% of those others on the market. Bilt Hamber Auto-Foam is not thick and really cleans safely like no other foam in the world. Btw, no pre-rinse with water before using the foam is the way we do it here, is someone really rinsing with just water before foam and why, if I may ask?
-
The tips is very useful.
-
You asked for a shampoo that is not very foaming then try to get some built hamber auto wash it’s just as good as their clay!!!!
-
So, is he saying Adam’s Car Shampoo is worthless with no cleaning agent since it is ph neutral?
-
Wasn’t Dylan working for Adam’s ?
-
When discussing clay lube Jason Rose said to use something without polymers and then dylan said to use ONR which I thought had polymers!? Confused
-
What does a class like this cost
-
18:40 no way dude! It depends how much dirt you have on your paint, I’m talking real dirt like dust/mud from a dirt road. Foam works so much better then a low foaming surfactant on actual mud/dust.
-
If you’re removing grime, then a low foam soap is perfect but with dust and mud, you’ll never change my mind for initial removal using thick suds followed by a heavy rinse.
-
Using a electric pressure washer:
-
- Foam your car and let it sit for 15 mins to loosen stuck on debris.
-
- Spray off foam.
-
Just get to the wash technique….wow
-
So subjective!
-
Matt , waxit.be also on yt, this is a super legit high end belgian detailing company that is kinda like your store/ future destination. Walk in store , verry open detailing en super high end. Check them out!
-
But onr has polymers in it so… Use it or not?
-
That was painful
-
Bilt hamber medium clay bar is best agressive clay bar, only clay bar that never mared ultrasoft single stage paint on my car was valetpro ultrafine clay bar, unfortunately they are euro market produts
-
Oh my…Can we over think this process any more…
-
Cuz…. I need a thirty minute lesson on washing my car
