One dead, another in hospital after drive-by shooting in South Bend
SOUTH BEND, Ind. (WNDU) - The St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit is investigating a deadly drive-by shooting.
Police were called to the intersection of Eddy Street and Jefferson Boulevard at 8:50 p.m. Tuesday.
They found a car crashed into a tree, with a woman dead behind the wheel. She has been identified as 28-year-old Chanel Neal of South Bend.
A male passenger was taken to the hospital with gunshot wounds and is expected to survive.
Right now, there’s no word on a suspect. Anyone with information is asked to call the St. Joseph County Metro Homicide Unit at 574-235-5009 or Crime Stoppers at 288-STOP.

Woman killed, male passenger injured in drive-by shooting at Eddy & Jefferson in South Bend
A woman was shot and killed and a man injured in an apparent drive-by shooting.
The shooting happened around 8:50 p.m. on Tuesday, March 16, at Jefferson and Eddy Streets in South Bend.
Officers arrived to find a vehicle that had collided with a tree at the intersection.
Officers found a woman, Chanel Neal, 28, who was driving the vehicle and a male passenger who had suffered apparent gunshot wounds.
Officers were unable to resuscitate Neal and she was pronounced deceased at the scene. The male passenger was taken to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
