Kanye West Might Be Releasing Homeware Soon

Kanye West may be making a foray into homeware soon.

West’s company Mascotte Holdings Inc. applied to trademark the name “Kanye West” for numerous home decor products on Aug. 27, according to an application filed at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.

The application covers a range of home items, including blankets, curtains, pillow cases, bath towels, nylon flags and even products for children and pets.

While this would be the rapper’s first venture in the home category, he’s experienced a successful career in the fashion industry with his Yeezy brand, which has collaborated with Adidas on numerous collections over the years. Most recently, West teamed with Gap to bring his Yeezy brand to the retailer. The first piece in the Yeezy x Gap collection, a blue puffy nylon jacket, was revealed in June.

According to Architectural Digest, West has always had a passion for architecture and interior design. He would apparently go to Barnes & Noble and purchase Architectural Digest magazines when he was younger.

West and his now soon-to-be ex-wife Kim Kardashian West spent almost seven years renovating their home, which is believed to be worth up to $60 million. The interior design of the house, which features large, open spaces to embrace simplicity and minimalism, was by Axel Vervoordt, a Belgian designer and tastemaker.

“I discovered Kim and Kanye as wonderful human beings. We have common values in life, important human values, like a respect for the beauty and spirituality of art,” Vervoordt told Architectural Digest. “You can call it religion, but this is perhaps beyond religion, a search for cosmic values of peace and positive energy. We had very profound conversations about the space of the mind and the importance of silence.”

Kardashian West told Architectural Digest she had to be “the voice of functionality” between the two as they were designing aspects of the house. “Kanye would come up with the most far-out ideas, and I’d say, ‘This is not normal. We need drawers.’”

In February, it was reported that Kardashian West filed for divorce after nearly seven years of marriage. The couple have four children together: North, Saint, Chicago and Psalm. Despite the divorce filing, Kardashian West participated in West’s most recent listening party for his “Donda” album last month, where she joined West on stage wearing a Balenciaga fall 2021 couture wedding dress.

Move over, Martha Stewart! Kanye West might be heading for homeware.

Following the release of his highly anticipated and long-delayed album “Donda,” the rapper, 44, seems to have his sights set on a new endeavor: an eponymous line of home goods.

Legal documents obtained by Page Six show that the rapper’s company Mascotte Holdings Inc. filed to trademark the name “Kanye West” for a myriad of home décor products.

The application, filed on Aug. 27, covers a variety of items including blankets, shower curtains, pillowcases, towels and textile wall hangings.

Perhaps West is taking a page out of his estranged wife Kim Kardashian’s book. The Skims founder, 40, filed to trademark the phrase “KKW Home” for a similar range of products in 2020, although she’s yet to cash in on categories outside of fragrances, beauty products and shapewear.

The “Hurricane” rapper is no stranger to the business world himself, having profited off his highly popular Yeezy designs for over a decade.

And he’s recently begun dropping pieces from his long-awaited Yeezy x Gap collaboration, so far limited to the $200 Round Jacket — a design he wore for two of his “Donda” listening parties this summer — in blue, black and red.

West’s latest trademark filing comes at an interesting time, considering he recently submitted legal documents to officially shorten his name to his longtime nickname, “Ye.”

West has also been embroiled in an ongoing feud with Drake as of late.

Perhaps he’s hoping the “Certified Lover Boy” rapper won’t be able to hold a Drake-branded candle to a full-fledged home line.

RS Charts: Kanye West’s ‘Hurricane’ Storms to Number One as ‘Donda’ Dominates

Tracks from Kanye West’s Donda overwhelmed the latest Rolling Stone Top 100 Songs chart, led by “Hurricane,” which incorporates vocals from a pair of stars, Lil Baby and the Weeknd. “Hurricane” garnered more than 27 million streams, beating out Megan Thee Stallion’s remix of BTS’ “Butter” to top the chart. This marks his first Number One RS 100 hit.

All 27 tracks off Donda reached the RS 100 — the second most simultaneous in RS 100 history after Lil Uzi Vert — with four debuting in the Top Ten: the muscular, distortion-slathered “Jail” with Jay-Z (22.9 million streams), the thunderous “Off the Grid” with Playboi Carti and Fivio Foreign (22.6 million), the whimsical ballad “Moon” with Don Toliver and Kid Cudi (19.3 million), and the sludgy, slamming “Praise God” with Baby Keem and Travis Scott (18.1 million). West launched another six tracks into the Top Twenty, and every one of Donda‘s 27 tracks debuted on the RS 100.

Only a select few artists were able to withstand the Donda wave. “Butter” stood at Number Two thanks to robust sales. The Kid Laroi and Justin Bieber’s “Stay” dropped to Number Three (25.4 million streams). And Lil Nas X’s latest hit, “Industry Baby” with Jack Harlow, was pushed down but not washed out of the Top Ten — the single settled at Number Eight with 18.8 million streams.

Donda impressive debut partially obscured the success of other new singles. Baby Keem’s brassy, triumphant “Family Ties,” which features a whirlwind, chest-thumping verse from Kendrick Lamar, launched at Number Nine with 16.2 million streams. Meek Mill’s “Sharing Locations,” a scrappy, low-slung collaboration with Lil Baby and Lil Durk, also performed well, picking up 13.9 million streams and debuting at Number 15.

The Rolling Stone Top 100 chart tracks the most popular songs of the week in the United States. Songs are ranked by song units, a number that combines audio streams and song sales using a custom weighting system. The chart does not include passive listening like terrestrial radio or digital radio. The RS 100 chart is updated daily, and each week Rolling Stone finalizes and publishes an official version of the chart, covering the seven-day period ending with the previous Thursday.

Halsey earned a new hit with “I Am Not a Woman, I’m a God,” which appeared on her album If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power. The track, which is produced by Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, launched at Number 54 with 6.6 million streams. Other than that, West thoroughly dominated the songs chart.

Next week, expect a similar performance from Drake’s Certified Lover Boy. The album has already amassed over 400 million streams in the U.S., according to Alpha Data, and Drake is responsible for every single one of the Top Twenty most popular songs in the country so far this week.
