曾獲葛萊美提名，時尚界寵兒Sophie Xeon驟逝年僅34歲
樂壇以「SOPHIE」稱呼她，她不只是DJ也是歌手、音樂創作者和製作人，曾經與瑪丹娜、Nicki Minaj、Charli XCX、Vince Staples、Kim Petras合作，被譽為音樂圈的新鋭聲音，2018年創作的首張專輯《Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides》獲得葛萊美獎最佳舞曲/電子專輯提名。美國線上音樂網站Pitchfork以「將電音轉化成前衛流行樂的典範」來形容她在音樂上的成就。

在父親的影響下，SOPHIE從小就熱愛電子音樂，甚至在9或10歲時就向父母親表示想要輟學，專心當音樂製作人，即使父母不准，她也整天關在房門裡玩音樂，她的姊姊邀請她當婚禮DJ。之後以樂團Motherland成員身份出道，個人首張單曲〈Nothing More to Say〉於2013年2月發行，2017年的單曲造成轟動，這是她首度以自己的聲音和影像出現在MV裡 ；2018年6月，她以自己的音樂品牌MSMSMSM發行個人首張專輯《Oil of Every Pearl’s Un-Insides》，並入圍葛萊美獎。在SOPHIE死前兩天，唱片公司剛發行了她的最新單曲〈UNISIL〉。

說到SOPHIE與時尚界的淵源，最為人津津樂道的莫過於2020巴黎春夏時裝周，在Louis Vuitton的秀場，大家好奇大螢幕出現的神秘臉孔，也就是Sophie Xeon，同時是音樂家，兼製作人與 DJ的他，為LV女裝大秀特別製作〈It’s Okay to Cry〉加長版。蘇菲SOPHIE赤裸的頭部和肩膀，與那對比的鮮紅滑潤唇色，出現在舞台後方四面延伸至天花板的落地螢幕中，並映襯著明亮的夜空。當那令人興奮的電子音樂響起時，一扇門打開了，第一位模特兒隨後踏上了伸展台，一襲燈籠袖格子襯衫，配上鋸齒紋的老爺爺背心與高腰休閒長褲，褲擺隨著步伐飄逸。當第二位模特兒進場時，蘇菲 SOPHIE 開始演唱歌曲〈It’s Okay To Cry〉的加長版（原版於 2017 年發行）。
該表演是專為 SS20 秀所準備的，並與法國影像導演兼創作歌手—木童 Woodkid （又名 Yoann Lemoine）合作。木童 Woodkid 同樣也有讓人驚豔的經歷，他曾與拉娜·德芮 Lana Del Rey、凱蒂·佩芮 Katy Perry 和德瑞克 Drake 等歌手共事。 視覺與聽覺的震撼，無疑是當時最讓人驚艷的一場秀。
身為跨性別者，SOPHIE曾於《Paper》雜誌受訪時透露變性如何改變她的音樂創作，她說：「承認自己是跨性別人意味著你不需要被侷限在你出生的身體，社會依據你的性別所產生的期待、你該怎麼活、怎麼結束均不復存在，傳統家庭模式和結構跟著消失。」她說跨性別的本質在於「控制」，「跨性別讓你獲得更多身心控制權，你的身體和靈魂不會再對峙或掙扎受苦。」SOPHIE說這樣獨立的個體能夠更接近真實的自我，而非受到傳統社會基於性別給予的特定壓力。

The Scottish musician was found at their home in Athens overnight, “following a sudden accident,” according to a statement their management team gave The Guardian. They were 34-years-old.
Sophie, also known as DJ Sophie and Sophie Xeon, had become beloved as much in the music world — working with the likes of Madonna and her contemporary Charli XCX — as they had in fashion. In 2019, Nicolas Ghesquière tapped the Glasgow-born artist to perform on a floor-to-ceiling screen in Louis Vuitton’s Spring 2020 runway show.
In a post on his Instagram page, Ghesquière wrote, “Thank you for sharing your light with the world Sophie, we will never forget you.”

La musica e la moda piangono Sophie, cantante, dj e producer scozzese musa di Louis Vuitton. Nota nel panorama di avanguardie artistiche sia per la sua carriera da solista sia per le collaborazioni con star del calibro di Madonna e Lady Gaga, nel fashion system era stata consacrata da Nicolas Ghesquière, direttore creativo del womenswear della maison di Lvmh. Lo stilista aveva infatti proiettato una sua performance in occasione dello show spring-summer 2020.
Scomparsa a soli 34 anni, Sophie è stata una stella del pop sperimentale e underground contemporaneo, ma soprattutto «un’icona di liberazione», come appare scritto nel breve ma toccante messaggio diffuso dal suo entourage. «Con profonda tristezza vi informiamo che Sophie è venuta a mancare intorno alle 4 del mattino ad Atene, dove viveva, in seguito a un incidente improvviso», si legge. «Sophie è stata una pioniera di un nuovo suono, una delle artiste più influenti dell’ultimo decennio. Non solo per la produzione originale e la creatività, ma anche per il suo messaggio e la visibilità che ha ottenuto».
Originaria di Glasgow, classe 1986, Sophie aveva pubblicato il suo primo e unico album da solista, Oil of every pearl’s un-insides nel 2018, riuscendo a raggiungere la settima posizione delle chart dance nel Regno Unito e piazzandosi ventesima in America. Ma a lanciarla era stata la catena di fast food McDonald’s che aveva utilizzato in uno spot uno dei suoi brani più apprezzati, Lemonade. Dopo aver lavorato con Charlie XCX nel 2016, Sophie aveva poi contribuito alla produzione di Chromatica di Lady Gaga, prendendo parte solo un anno dopo, nel 2019, alla sessantunesima edizione dei Grammy awards. Nel mentre aveva lavorato anche con Rihanna.
Ma nella moda Sophie era diventata famosa entrando nel firmamento delle star che gravitano attorno alla creatività e alla missione inclusiva di Nicolas Ghesquière. E proprio lo stilista ha voluto ricordarla con un post sul suo profilo Instagram. «Grazie per aver condiviso la tua luce con il mondo, Sophie, non ti dimenticheremo mai», ha scritto il designer pubblicando una foto del set-up della sfilata s-s 2020 womenswear di Louis Vuitton che proiettava su un maxi schermo una performance dell’artista. Tra i commenti, anche quello della make-up artist di fama mondiale Pat McGrath che cura il beauty degli show di Ghesquière, ugualmente addolorata dalla notizia. (riproduzione riservata)
