Gucci beds Eurovision winners Måneskin, and more fashion news you missed
It’s taken 64 years for the Eurovision Song Contest to be appropriately acknowledged for its contributions to fashion. And while ABBA never quite managed to score a campaign, this year’s sweat-slicked winners, Måneskin, have just been transformed into Alessandro Michele’s latest muses in Gucci’s Aria campaign. The former Italian X Factor contestants – who definitely did not do a line on live tele – have lent their glam-rock-infused, heavy-scented pheromones to the fashion house, posing for Mert & Marcus in BDSM leather harnesses, sparkly bell bottoms, and Donatella levels of eyeliner.
And though you shouldn’t pit the girls against each other, lead singer Damiano David’s blustery marabou feather boas cast a deep shadow over Harry Styles’ lacklustre scrap of tinsel. According to Michele, the imagery “captures the revolutionary and joyful impetus of eros” – words which provide an apt description for Tom Ford’s tenure at Gucci, as does the band’s guitarist slinking semi-nude across the floor. See the gallery above for a first look at the campaign.
“Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang, Gucci Gang!”: Måneskin Featured in New Fashion Campaign

As if winning Eurovision and ascending up the worldwide music charts wasn’t enough, the members of Måneskin can add ‘supermodel’ to their resume.
An editorial photo shoot and accompanying short film was released by luxury designer brand Gucci today, and both prominently feature Damiano, Victoria, Ethan, and Thomas! In the photos and film clip, the members of Måneskin are seen wearing items from the Gucci Aria collection, the fashion line’s first collection of this, their 100th year of operation. You can read more details and view a slide show of the collection on Gucci’s website.
The photos and short film were shot by Mert and Marcus, a duo of fashion photographers who have worked together since 1994. They have shot covers for magazines like Vogue, W Magazine, and Interview, as well as Kim Kardashian’s infamous nude cover of GQ in 2016. They are also no strangers to photographing Italian Eurovision royalty. In 2019, they lensed a Burberry campaign featuring Mahmood.
The entire Gucci Aria campaign was overseen by Alessandro Michele, the designer who has served as creative director for Gucci since 2015.
Do #YOU think Eurovision is going mainstream? What other past Eurovision winners do #YOU think would have killed in a fashion editorial. (Personally, I’d love to see Måns in his Calvins.) Sound off in the comments below, in our forum, or on social media @ESCUnited.

They’re the Eurovision winning group known for their unique swerve on fashion, which frequently comes with a piquant sexual flavour.
And now Måneskin are putting it on full display for Gucci — the world’s most popular luxury brand — in their new #GucciAria campaign.
Writing on Instagram, the celebrated brand wrote that the campaign is meant to “capture the revolutionary and joyful impetus of eros as the creative force behind contemporary imagery.”
It chose its words carefully. The word eros — which no doubt comes from Eros, Greek god of love and sex — refers to that force that bridges the two. Fans of the Old Testament book the Song of Solomon will remember that the word is used there to portray the sensual intimacy and physical love between husband and wife.

The Italian rockers — who blur boundaries as individuals and as members of the band — have pulled eros into 2021 with their spirit of openness and tolerance, as they smash expectations of sexuality and gender.
They’ve famously said that their song “I Wanna Be Your Slave” is about exploring all facets of sexuality — what you are and what you could potentially be. And in Rotterdam they told us they take great joy in wearing clothes that obliterate gender stereotypes and that could, indeed, be genderless.
The two Gucci images are lush and luxurious, showcasing the band in their high fashion splendour. In one we see Victoria and Thomas on all fours. Thomas wears tight leather trousers and slightly arches his back while wearing a black harness — an item frequently associated with sexual fetish and restraint.

Meanwhile, Damiano — in oversized red shades — sits in an armchair with what appears to be a white peacock. Both he and Victoria boast black fringe on their arms, giving them an animalistic allure that celebrates both the craftsmanship at the House of Gucci, but also the ability of these stars to connect with their carnal yearnings.
Aware that the mind is as sexy as the body, Ethan stands at back reading a book while wearing an oversized broach and pink fringe that plays off the hues of the wall behind him.
