Emily candidly opens up about her past struggle with cystic acne, aversion to Accutane, and instead, names this miracle product her holy-grail solution. Next, the soft-spoken and relatable teen moisturizes using Trader Joe’s oil-free antioxidant facial moisturizer. Lind loves these uber accessible products claiming she’s tried many alternatives but nothing leaves her skin quite as nourished, unblemished, fresh-feeling, and her quite as satisfied; with gentle effectiveness and cruelty-free production at those price points, we too are impressed. Lind, a self-proclaimed “sunscreen-obsessed-human,” recognizes the importance of SPF yet discloses that she hasn’t always been so adamant about protecting her healthy skin. Lind’s rule of thumb when it comes to makeup is sticking with the basics, she swears by a natural yet air-brushed and sculpted base juxtaposed with an attention-grabbing lip in rouge. To start off, Emily generously applies Glossier’s light skin tint for sheer yet effective coverage, before concealing dark circles under her eyes and illuminating the high points of her face. She softly sets her face using both Gucci’s slightly tinted matte natural powder, and a drugstore mattifying sheer powder, by Flower Beauty, over top. Emily does away with excess shine and sticks to a more classic, and timeless, textureless facial base finish. Emily’s look of elegance continues with bronzer, the rising statuses Kevin Aucoin’s sculpting powder to reintroduce warmth and depth into the hollows of her cheeks, jawline, and temples. Finally, she lightly grazes Dior powdered highlighter over the high points of her face and finishes the base with a shiny Chanel liquid eyeshadow appropriated to create a long-lasting nose highlight.

A natural eye look compliments Emily’s anticipated rich red lip, so she opts for a subtly sparkling neutral-toned light shadow with brown pencil eyeliner and long wispy mascara accents primed first with her trusted, and according to her, very necessary, Gucci eye primer. By exfoliating her lips with a dry towel, Emily purges her lips of dry skin and naturally plumps her already full pout. Next, she carefully applies a ruby-hued lipstick and neatly wraps a sheet of toilet paper around several times into a “perfecting brush” of sorts. Emily cleans up the edges of her lipstick and moves on to the next step: wiping away the lipstick on her cupid’s bow and blotting it back on for a more worn-in red lip look. To complete the tedious process Emily briskly sets the lipstick with powder before reapplying the product with her finger for a brighter, classy red.

With a demanding but durable red lip process like this, Lind is surely a perfectionist or at least has an eye for precision and detail. We see, and love, these traits in Gossip Girl’s Audrey Hope, and we cannot wait to watch the rest of the airing season. If you’ve been watching the new Gossip Girl on HBO Max, you may have noticed that Audrey, played by Emily Alyn Lind, has some seriously good skin. If you want to know the secrets behind her gorgeous glow, you’re in luck, because the star has shared her full beauty routine with Vogue – and one of her absolute essentials is a budget-friendly moisturizer from Trader Joe’s.

Emily kicks off her routine by telling viewers that she has struggled with her skin in the past; she had cystic acne and didn’t want to go on Accutane. For years, she has been using an acne-specific cleanser her derm prescribed her, which she says has “changed her life.” After cleansing, she applies the Trader Joe’s Oil-Free Antioxidant Moisturizer, saying, “This is oil-free Trader Joe’s is the best moisturizer ever. I’ve tried everything and this is the only one that works on my skin.”

Emily goes on to say that she likes Trader Joe’s products because they’re cruelty-free and gentle. “Trader Joe’s has such amazing cruelty-free products and they don’t make you break out, you can use them literally on babies,” she enthuses. “I think that’s a good rule of thumb. If you can use it on a baby, then it’s good for you.” You also can’t beat its price, as Emily’s fave moisturizer retails for about $6 at the grocery emporium.

After applying her moisturizer, Emily puts on sunscreen, admitting she’s just recently become “a sunscreen-obsessed human.” She favors Supergoop! Mattescreen Sunscreen SPF 40, which she follows with a prescription gel and then the Dior Lip Glow Oil to moisturize her lips and add a pretty pink glow, and then heads into her full makeup routine.

Her makeup begins with Glossier Perfecting Skin Tint, NARS concealer, Gucci Poudre De Beauté Mat Naturel Beauty Setting Powder, and Flower Beauty Miracle Matte Universal Finishing Pressed Powder. When it comes to bronzer, Emily likes Kevyn Aucoin’s Sculpting Powder, and she adds a glow with Dior’s Backstage Glow Face Palette and a Chanel liquid eyeshadow.

Emily says that “eyeshadow likes to fall off of my face,” so she keeps her look in place with Gucci Sérum De Beauté Fluide Soyeux Silk Priming Serum. (She says that her eyeshadow tends to “fall off” when she’s on her way to set and they have to redo it constantly.) Emily does a subtle eye look with The Crème Shop Desert Springs Eyeshadow Palette, then primes her lashes for mascara with L’Oréal Voluminous Lash Paradise Primer before using Gucci Mascara L’Obscur.
