She even flies high and elegant like a bird during her pilates or ‘flying yoga’!

Today’s heartwarming letter in our Dear Eonni series has been penned by Tanushka from India to BLACKPINK’s Jennie. Read her letter below.

Dear Jennie Eonnie,

Before starting my letter, I want to share my love for you. I am your greatest fan and I want you to know that I love you so much. Deep within my heart, there is a large space for you. So, I’m just hoping someday this will reach you. I just think that you’re the best dancer and rapper ever! I want to be like you too but I don’t think I’ll ever be able to become a K-pop idol.

Honestly, I like you so much that once I started fighting with my brother when he disrespected K-pop. But when someone asks me who’s your bias in BLACKPINK? I just gets confused cuz I like all the members. Recently, your new ep was out on YOUTUBE with Knowing Bros, and you discussed that your next tour will be in

India and I was so happy that it was Mumbai even if I ain’t from Mumbai I just felt happy for other BLINKS. But I wanted to tell you one thing for sure, you’ll meet a lot of Indians BLINKS but not in concert or a fansign event cuz we’re not allowed to spend this much money for concerts and other things.

You can help us by mentioning India only and we’ll be super happy. I promise My parents allowed me to go to Korea when I graduate from school but I’m 14 years old now and I don’t know when will your band gets disbanded. There’s no reason for me to go to Korea if your band gets disbanded by then. In my freetime, I just open Instagram and one day I saw an anti-army hating on other groups and I just told them that “the group you’re liking didn’t taught you to hate on other groups”.

I just wanted to thank you. One day, I was so sad as hell cuz my bestie betrayed me and suddenly I saw your video “Ddu-ddu” then I opened it for fun and I was like WoW it’s so beautiful!! Since then I became a BLINK. That was about last year on 3rd August. On my Birthday, you gave me such a beautiful gift. Because of you I got to know about these beautiful songs. I love them so much than my life. Korean songs are ×1000 times better than Indian songs. Because of you eonni, I got to know about Korea and K-pop so much. I

know I may have English errors but I’ll try to improve it. I’m currently writing a vampire book and after that if it gets published, I’ll write a book on BLACKPINK too.. I promise

Hugs ×10

Love for BLACKPINK ×Infinite

Love for Korea ×Infinite

Love for other BLINKS ×Infinite

I just hope this letter reaches you one day. I want you to read this letter aloud with other members. I love you BLACKPINK! SARANGHAE (finger hearts). Always keep smiling. I’ll wait for your reply. I’ll be waiting for your reply my whole life.

Your biggest fan from India, Jaipur

Tanushka

How Chanel’s Pre-Oscar Party Became Awards Season’s Most Glamorous Affair

]

For nearly as long as there have been Academy Awards—that’s dating back to 1929—there have been Oscars parties. Most take place in apartments or homes, with themed snacks, yelling-at-the-screen commentary, and Champagne (home shoppers take note: the event’s official bubbly is Piper-Heidsieck), but some are nearly as exclusive as the awards banquet itself.

Every year since 2009, Chanel has held its annual Pre-Oscar Awards Dinner in partnership with the international bon vivant Charles Finch, an invitation-only event that draws Hollywood’s brightest stars the evening before its biggest night. For its first decade, the event was held at the now-closed Beverly Hills haunt Madeo, and in 2019 it moved to the Polo Lounge at the Beverly Hills Hotel.

To hear Finch, who also throws an annual night-before-the-BAFTAs event with Chanel, explain it, his Oscar party tradition started more than 30 years ago. “It was many decades ago when I was a young writer and director in Hollywood, and a friend of mine had gone to work with Michael Chow and connected us,” he says. “I rather took a shine to Mr. Chow and Michael and we made a deal: I would help develop material with him and in exchange, I could eat at Mr. Chow for free. It was probably the best deal I made in my life.”

What began as lunches solo or with a friend and over time developed into dinners and, eventually, a gathering on the Friday night of Oscar weekend. “Word got out that I was doing this party, and all of a sudden I had a bunch of movie stars—even Billy Wilder was there,” Finch recalls. “This whole crowd turned up and that was the beginning.”

Over the years, Finch continued to host his parties. “It was always in my mind,” he says, “to have what I call a crash of a party, full of people from all different groups and disciplines." During a stint as an agent at the William Morris Agency, he was sent to London, where he threw what would become his annual pre-BAFTA bash and soon enough Chanel—to which he was connected through Karl Lagerfeld, who designed costumes for the Finch-directed film Where Sleeping Dogs Lie—became his partner. Then, he explains, “when I thought I should throw parties in California again, Chanel came along.”

The annual event is one of awards season’s most exclusive invitations. Each year, attendance is capped at around 150 guests and notable attendees have included Margot Robbie, Leonardo DiCaprio, Penelope Cruz, Mick Jagger, Elon Musk, Tracee Ellis Ross, Jeff Bezos, Pharrell Williams, Frances McDormand, Tessa Thompson, Yara Shahidi, and Rupert Murdoch among others. Traditionally, guests enter the party to the music of a live mariachi band and enjoy a night of Martinis and revelry. This year, however, is going to be just a bit different.

Instead of hosting an in-person or virtual event, Chanel is instead hand delivering a box to its curated guest list so housebound partygoers can toast the intersection of fashion and film at home with the spirit of the annual event. The box will include the makings for the evening’s signature cocktail (a “swimming martini” with an olive suspended to never touch the liquor and a lemon rind plunked into the center of the drink), the ingredients necessary to create ice-cream sundaes (a traditional crowd favorite at the end of the night), and a projector and list of 50 suggested films for guests to enjoy. Additionally, the fashion house has made a donation to The Actors Fund to support its ongoing work for the entertainment industry.

It’s all part of Chanel’s ongoing commitment to film. As Finch well knows, the late Lagerfeld was a film buff and occasional costume designer, and his successor Virginie Viard has done work on-screen as well. The brand’s founder, Gabrielle Chanel, started a long tradition of working with actors and lending clothes and accessories to film shoots, and the house is still active today in funding film programs and festivals and experimenting with its own filmmaking.

This year, according to Finch, the best thing any true cinephile can do is hold out hope—whether they’re invited to his party or not. “Kristin Scott Thomas recently said to me how much she misses the party because there’s a wonderful irreverence to it,” he says. “After this pandemic, people need these things that are about human contact and ideas and the moments when you’re not at work. Unfortunately, this year we don’t get to gather, but we don’t want people to forget that this is a chance to celebrate great film. I hope people will be reminded that we’ll be back; the world has changed around us, but we’re still here and we’ll go back to living life as fully as we can.”
