louis vuitton les-extraits: frank gehry starts from the marc newson designed perfume bottle and adds a twist to it
‘les-extraits’ series : a twist of the original shape
louis vuitton in collaboration with the well-known architect frank gehry, has created a new fragrance series, dubbed les-extraits collection, which will be launched this fall. taking its cue from the original vuitton fragrance bottle designed by marc newson, the architect played with curves, stretching its form and adding a charming elliptical shape to the right part of the bottle. furthermore, each flacon embossed by the brand logo, is topped by a sculptural cap, mimicking a crumpled paper, made from aluminum sheets. all images courtesy of louis vuitton
a sculptural cap tops the falcon
taking shape as a silver-colored sheet that dances in the wind, the cap adds an ethereal touch to the bottle. the form of the flacon is a tiny-scaled revival of the fondation louis vuitton structure, designed by frank gehry; twelve expansive panes made of 3,600 tiles of glass give the design the impression of colliding sails sweeping in the wind.
les-extraits collection by louis vuitton includes five new fragrances by the brand’s perfumer, jacques cavallier-belletrud: dancing blossom, cosmic cloud, rhapsody, symphony, and stellar times.
stretching its initial form
‘I wanted to approach the project from a sculptural point of view, bringing something different to the perfume. it’s not a finished geometric shape, it’s just a movement, a visual movement with the added bonus of this ephemeral side.’ said frank gehry.

Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom Match in Black Louis Vuitton Looks for the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala
Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom giggled their way down the red carpet on Saturday night at the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures Gala in Los Angeles, both wearing Louis Vuitton in matching black. The couple has been engaged since Valentine’s Day 2019 and have a beautiful one-year-old daughter, Daisy Dove Bloom, but they were clearly enjoying their night out on the town.

Bloom kept things simple in a velvet tuxedo jacket over black pants, while Perry wore a latex dress with a peplum waist and yellow piping around the pocket details. The most dramatic change might be Perry’s hair—the pop star has been going out as a blonde for some time now, but she arrived at the gala with a brunette beehive. It could just be a wig for the occasion, but the side bangs certainly accentuated her eyes:

Perry and Bloom were just two of a night full of stars. The event was celebrating the opening of the new museum, which has been a goal of the Academy for years, and honored Italian actress Sophia Loren and director Haile Gerima, who hails from Ethiopia.
TikTok has been breathing life into one of Perry’s older hits lately after a trend featuring her 2019 hit “Harleys in Hawaii” went viral on the platform, making it her number one song on Spotify right now. She decided to thanks the youths on TikTok for its resurgence on Instagram by showing some scenes of her time in Hawaii, including what she wrote was a “a lil video from the ride that actually inspired Harley’s In Hawaii.”
The video is of her hanging onto Bloom as they ride around the state on a motorcycle smiling and laughing, showing that they are in love on the red carpet and while on vacation.

Each of the participants — a mix of established luxury houses and smaller labels like Thebe Magugu and Wales Bonner — will create one bespoke look “inspired by Alber’s legacy or a special take on an iconic silhouette,” a statement from Elbaz’s label AZ Factory read. Lanvin, where Elbaz served as creative director from 2001 until he was abruptly fired in 2015, is also among those participating.
The looks will be showcased in a livestreamed event on Oct. 5. In honour of the late designer’s wishes to bring the fashion industry together, the event’s format takes inspiration from the “Théâtre de la Mode” exhibition in 1945, which saw over 60 couturiers come together in solidarity following the end of the second world war.
