]

Global anime streaming leader Crunchyroll has now unexpectedly teamed up with Gucci on a cute collaboration centered around Bananya. Bananya is a Japanese anime television series produced by animation studio TMS Entertainment that follows the life of a white cat that lives inside a banana. The titular character Bananya’s lifelong dream is to bathe in chocolate with all of his banana cat friends and to live his life as best as he can in a normal household.

The womenswear collection features sweatshirts, T-shirts, Rhython and Ace Sneaker styles, and accessories marked by Bananya and his friends. Signature Gucci graphic stylings are paired with playful illustrations of banana cats being cheerful and sleeping peacefully. Rounding up the special range is a Bananya Bunch crystal brooch and gold necklace with a crystal and enamel Bananya pendant.

Check out the range above and expect the Crunchyroll x Gucci Bananya collection to be available sometime in May on Gucci’s website.

In case you missed it, Netflix recently announced the streaming date for the two-part film Sailor Moon Eternal.

Gucci is showing its love for anime shows again with the launch of a new capsule collection of special items featuring characters from Bananya.

The women’s wear capsule made in collaboration with Crunchyroll, the American distributor and publisher streaming anime and manga programming, is comprised of seven T-shirts and sweatshirts with characters from the show like the titular character, Bananya, and the younger siblings of Bananya.

In addition, Gucci released trainers for men and women and slides for women featuring characters Bananya and Tabby Bananya, and jewelry such as a chain necklace featuring Bananya as a pendant and a colored crystal and fabric brooch with the Bananya characters.

Bananya, the show by Kyō Yatate and produced by Gathering and TMS Entertainment, follows a white cat that lives inside a banana and the lives of its fellow fictional cat species. The show produced two series, Bananya in 2016 and Bananya and the Curious Bunch in 2019.

Gucci has partnered with anime and manga series in the past, including Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure through a collaboration with creator Hirohiko Araki and Spur Magazine to celebrate the reopening of the house’s Shinjuku store in Japan.

The collection is available now on the Gucci website, with prices ranging from $450 to $1,250.

Gucci has collaborated with anime streaming brand Crunchyroll to launch a selection of items from Bananya, an original Japanese anime series about the lives of tiny cats who live in bananas.

The Bananya series is produced by studio TMS Entertainment and both seasons can currently be streamed on Crunchyroll worldwide, outside of Asia. Crunchyroll boasts more than four million subscribers and over 100 million registered users, with an anime library of more than 1,000 titles and 30,000 episodes available to more than 200 countries and territories worldwide.

The selection of special items featuring Bananya will be available from May online at Gucci.com and in directly operated stores worldwide.

“Anime is a pop culture mainstay and our new collection with Gucci celebrating the eternally adorable Bananya is just another example of the power of this medium to transcend categories,” said John Leonhardt, head of consumer products, Crunchyroll. “We are thrilled to be working with Gucci to bring this playful collection to fans around the world.”

The collection includes seven womenswear items — four G Loved base short-sleeve cotton t-shirts and three felted cotton sweatshirts, adorned with the Bananya characters. For women, there are two styles of trainers and a pair of slides that all display Bananya and Tabby Bananya. For jewelry, there is a colored crystal and fabric brooch with the trio of cats that make up the Bananya Bunch, and one with Bananya on his own. Gucci is also offering a chain necklace in metal with gold finish, featuring Bananya as a pendant fashioned out of crystals and enamel.
