Chanel’s Classic Boy Bag Review
In our biweekly series, editors share the item they wear on repeat, whether it be a basic white tee or a super-trendy jumpsuit. Prepare yourself (and your credit card) for some guilt-free shopping.
Being a fashion girl at heart, I tend to obsess over every single aesthetically pleasing piece that hits the runway, season after season. However, in an effort to adhere to a budget, I end up admiring the abstract and trendy pieces released, while setting my sights and funds on the most timeless articles of clothing and accessories. As I mentioned in a previous post for this series, I keep an excel spreadsheet on my laptop documenting all of the current items in my closet and an on-going list of fashion must-haves (sounds extremely meticulous but there is a method to my madness).
This handbag accentuates every look in my closet. Valerii Eidlin
Personally, style means so much more than racing to get my hands on the latest and greatest trends. It is more so about investing in clothing that is durable, versatile, and makes me feel like my highest self. I keep close tabs on my evolving wardrobe because my ultimate goal is to build a closet filled with timeless pieces. A wardrobe that speaks to both my feminine and tomboy sides, a collection that can be styled a myriad of ways, and—who knows?—one day be passed on to my future daughter(s). Reigning supreme on my wardrobe excel doc and, in my heart, as one of my all-time favorite handbag purchases to date is the Chanel Boy Bag.
This handbag is the perfect accessory for the girl who loves to get dressed up in a sexy form-fitting dress or sleek pant suit paired with high heels, but also loves her sneakers and a relaxed streetwear moment—yes, this describes me to a T! Introduced by the late Karl Lagerfeld as part of Chanel’s Fall/Winter 2011 collection, the Boy Bag was inspired by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel’s love for incorporating masculinity in her style and the handbag’s name is in homage to Coco Chanel’s first love, Boy Capel.

My medium sized boy bag is crafted with smooth, all-black caviar leather complete with gold-toned metal hardware (very on-brand with my neutral-toned wardrobe). This gem of a handbag is super sleek and compact, but can easily house my seven on-the-go necessities: wallet, cellphone, keys, lip balm, airpods, hand sanitizer, and hand cream. It pairs perfectly with my go-to sweatsuit-and-sneaker numbers for chill-days and travel, as well as acts as a standout accessory for times when I decide to get all dolled up (which have been far and few between since last March). The styling versatility that comes with this handbag makes the hefty price tag a little less intolerable. If you’re currently on the hunt for a splurge-worthy handbag to add to your arsenal, take a look at a few more iterations of the Boy Chanel Handbag, below.

The A-List: What To Do At Home This Week
WFH has given us a hunch, and we’re not talking intuition. Uncomfortable chairs, low desks, smaller screens—it’s a recipe for appalling posture and, often, pain. With this in mind, Australian pilates guru and founder of cult fitness concept Fluidform Kirsten King has created a 10-minute targeted workout for V.F. readers to help ease tightness in the neck and shoulders and realign the spine. She recommends performing this short series five times a week for optimal results. And for those who want to keep up the good work—and reap the resulting benefits—there’s the new Fluidform at Home platform, giving you direct access to more than 150 of Kirsten’s brilliant workouts, as well as a complimentary equipment pack. - Standing Lunge: 20 reps
Stand in a lunge position with your knee directly above the ankle of your front leg and your back leg long with your heel lifted. Ensure your torso is leaning forward and your bottom is slightly lifted. Reach your arms behind you, palms facing together with a low-level resistance band around your wrists. Inhale and on the exhale pull your arms apart, reaching back at all times and shoulders pulling away from your ears before returning them back towards each other. Keep a rhythm to your movement to work and strengthen your slow-twitch fibres. Keeping this position, turn your palms to face the ceiling. Inhale, and on the exhale, lift your arms up towards the ceiling. Continue to lift your arms up and down while gently keeping tension on the band around your wrist.
- Four-point Kneeling Tricep Dips: 3 sets of 6 reps
Start on your hands and knees with a medium-heavy resistance band around your elbows. Place hands directly beneath your shoulders and knees under hips. Add tension on the band by gently pulling your elbows apart. Inhale as you drift your weight forward and bend your elbows back towards your toes, keeping them close to your body. Exhale to return gently back to the start position. Continue this movement with flow and concentrate on taking equal time to travel down and up.
Next, lie on the floor face down with your arms wide in a W position. Legs are relaxed and your abs are gently pulling away from the floor.
- Wide Arm Chest Press: 10 reps
Inhale to start the exercise then exhale to gently press your hands, forearm and elbows into the ground before you lift your head and chest just up and off the ground. Inhale to hold as you feel your shoulders retract down towards your bottom, exhale to return to the floor. Take your time to enjoy the connection and movement.
- Arm Extensions: 3 sets of 5 reps
Holding this position with your head and chest lifted, inhale, and on the exhale, lift your hands, forearms and elbows up and off the ground inline with your shoulders. Inhale, and on the exhale, extend from the elbow and take your arms out wide—as if you are an aeroplane. Inhale to hold and then exhale to bend at the elbow and slowly rest yourself back down to the floor where you started.
MOB x Just Eat x Taste of London
We are big MOB Kitchen fans here at V.F. London, so you can imagine our delight when we got wind of this triple collab. In partnership with Taste of London, MOB is launching on Just Eat for one weekend and one weekend only—this one to be precise (January 14 to 17). And they’re going fully plant-based, so there’s no excuse for falling off the vegan wagon this time. We won’t give everything away—thrills are currently in short supply—but menu highlights include a tofu katsu burger and charred aubergine tikka masala. MOB x Just Eat x Taste of London
