Fashion trends: Jelly sandals are making their big comeback
What is the ultimate sandal trend this spring-summer? Alongside neo-gladiators, high-heeld flip-flops and other classically chic loafers, the jelly sandal is regaining its fashion credentials. Like those worn by Tylynn Nguyen and Monikh Dale, jelly sandals can either be worn with striking lines or take on childish accents, like the models worn by Alexa Chung and Blanca Miró.
In PVC or leather, the original 1946 jelly sandals are making a comeback
Born in 1946, the “Méduse” (French for jellyfish) are still commercialised under the brand of the same name today. In France, these seaside favorites are having a moment in the sun, with Made in France craftsmanship the order of the day. Whether minimalist in PVC by Celine by Hedi Slimane, or in natural leather for the young labels Hereu and Dôen, the jelly sandal can also be playful, often embellished with crystals or the Gucci logo. And because this latest trend proves that the flat is still in fashion for Spring/Summer 2020, here is an array of our favorite ways to wear it and a selection from the houses and labels of the moment. To be worn by the sea or in the city.
