How to Get the Bleached Brow Look without Actually Bleaching Them

The bleached eyebrow is quite a statement in itself. Fortunately, there’s a trick to trying out the look without reaching for the bleach.

In a Sea Full of Black Suits at Cannes, Timothée Chalamet Said, “F*ck That,” and Wore Silver

Whew, the Timothée Chalamet hive is eating well today! The handsome actor finally made his long-awaited Cannes red carpet debut on Monday, and his outfit was glorious enough to keep us stans satiated for the remainder of the week. While attending the premiere of The French Dispatch at the film festival, my future husband Timothée forwent the black color palette his costars stuck to and instead opted for a silver Tom Ford suit that appeared to be covered in a subtle zebra-print pattern. We’ve said it before, and we’ll say it again: the guy knows how to make one hell of a fashion statement!

While Timmy’s metallic tux certainly drew us in from afar, a closer glance at his accessories really made us weak in the knees. He styled his designer suit with a collection of silver Cartier rings and bracelets, white heeled boots, a banded-collar button-down, black sunglasses, and — are you ready to swoon? — not one but two cartilage earrings. Take an all-angles look at Timothée’s internet-breaking Cannes ensemble ahead, and be sure to take an extra few moments to enjoy the snaps of him and his equally fashionable costar Tilda Swinton.

Yes, I had piercings where the sun doesn’t shine. And yes, I regret it

At an early age, my daughter started lobbying to get her ears pierced. Initially, I said she’d have to wait until she was 12, but she wore me down, as children do. Yet no sooner had she overcome her meddlesome mother than a new barrier presented itself. Because now that ear-piercing was a real possibility, she had to face the fact that the process involved needles.

Given my daughter’s record with vaccinations, which are always a “journey”, I knew that we were in for a rough ride. So, I told her that there was no rush. Yet for her, a terrible pressure started to build. On one side, a desperate desire to get it done; on the other, a swelling terror at the thought of what that actually involved.

As a kid, I wasn’t allowed to get my ears pierced, since my mother deemed earrings on children to be “tacky”. I spent my childhood in a state of ear-envy, gazing longingly at the bejewelled lobes of my classmates. It seemed to me that I was the only child with virgin earlobes, so my unpierced status took on a disproportionate weight in my mind.

I remember families who would allow their teenage children a half glass of wine at dinner, on the assumption that this would prevent booze from becoming like forbidden fruit, which their darling ones would later gorge. I don’t know whether that approach works, but I can certainly testify that being denied earrings did have an impact on me. Because, unlike my daughter, I have no aversion to blood or needles. So, the minute I turned 18, I went piercing-mad.
