Cardi B defends giving three-year-old daughter ‘£90,000’ diamond necklace for her birthday

Cardi B has defended giving her three-year-old daughter a diamond necklace for her birthday.

The “WAP” rapper celebrated her daughter Kulture’s birthday on Sunday (11 July), and revealed on Instagram that she had been given a “baby charm necklace” by designer Elliot Elianette.

“Her daddy out did [sic] me but I still got my baby nice,” Cardi captioned the video, which depicted Kulture smiling as her mother opened a box containing the necklace.

The necklace appeared to be comprised of a set of diamonds alongside five charms resembling a Birkin bag, the Chanel logo, Minnie Mouse, a heart wrapped in a pink bow and a letter “K”.

While it is unknown how much the necklace cost, a representative from the jewellery design company Brilliant Earth estimated to Us Magazine that it is worth up to $150,000 (£90,000).

The gift was quickly mocked and criticised on social media, with one fan writing: “Kulture got my whole tuition around her neck.”

Others expressed admiration for the gift, but wondered if it was appropriate for a child.

“That’s sweet but kids don’t care about that kind of stuff,” one fan commented. Another added: “She’s so tired of getting purses and bling that baby wants dolls, unicorn pony’s [sic] and candy.”

Responding to a since-deleted tweet criticising the gift, Cardi defended “spoiling” her daughter.

“When your kid want ice cream for dinner, do you give them ice cream for dinner? My baby is overly spoiled with toys & super educated,” she wrote. “If mommy & daddy fly, then so is my kids.”

After another fan questioned her stance that she would “live my childhood dreams thru [sic] my kids,” Cardi replied: “Yes why not? Princess parties, unlimited toys, vacations and pools. My kid loves the pool and I went to the pool like five times in my childhood. Different flavour cereal not just Raisin Bran.”

The rapper has previously defended her purchases, most notably in December 2020 when fans called her “insensitive” for tweeting about potentially buying a $88,000 (£63,000) purse.

Elianette, the designer behind Kulture’s new necklace, is best known for designing the $24 million (£17 million) diamond once embedded in the head of rapper Lil Uzi Vert.

Cardi B surprised daughter Kulture with a typically extravagant gift for the toddler’s 3rd birthday over the weekend, presenting her with an enormous diamond charm necklace.

Designed by rapper favorite Elliot Elliante — the same jeweler behind Lil Uzi Vert’s $24 million pink diamond forehead implant — the piece features five charms shaped like an Hermès Birkin bag, a Chanel logo, Minnie Mouse, a bow-wrapped heart and a “K” initial (for Kulture, of course).

“Her daddy outdid me but I still got my baby nice 😊,” Cardi, 28, captioned Instagram videos of her little one unwrapping the over-the-top present on Sunday, poking fun at husband Offset in the process.

“Thank you @eliantte for my baby charm necklace,” she added.

Jaw-dropping jewelry gifts have become a tradition of sorts at Kulture’s birthday celebrations. When Cardi and Offset’s daughter turned 1, she received another diamond-and-enamel Elliante creation: a $100,000 chain adorned with colorful characters from the Netflix series “Word Party.”

And at her 2nd birthday party, Kulture matched her mom in iced-out Cuban link anklets and a diamond-covered Patek Philippe watch.

The custom necklace wasn’t the only highlight of Kulture’s 3rd birthday – throughout the weekend, the festivities got bigger and better. On Saturday, Cardi and Offset treated their tot to a fairytale-themed party complete with a horse-drawn carriage, petting zoo and mommy-and-me ballgowns.

And on Sunday, Kulture enjoyed a fun-filled trip to the American Dream mall in New Jersey with her family and friends.

Cardi B has shared more details of the lavish presents her daughter, Kulture, got for her third birthday, including a diamond encrusted Cartier bracelet.

The rapper, 28, shared video of her three-year-old being gifted the luxury piece of jewellery, and could be heard saying: ‘This is what Tstyles has got for you. Say Cartier bracelet!’

She added in the caption: ‘How you size it so well @essexfinejewelry? Thank you @iamtstylez.’

Kulture, who Cardi shares with Offset, 29, is set to become a big sister soon as her mum and dad are expecting their second baby.

However, they made sure she was spoilt rotten for her last birthday as an only child, as Cardi also treated her to a diamond necklace estimated to be worth £90,000.

The charm necklace by designer Elliot Elianette, was dripping in diamonds and had charms resembling Minnie Mouse, an Hermes Birkin bag, the letter K, a heart wrapped in a pink bow and the Chanel logo.

Kulture could be seen smiling with her mouth wide open as she tried on the expensive piece of jewellery while at dinner with her family.

The tot had also been treated to the most magical princess-themed birthday party, complete with a petting zoo, pastel coloured ball pits and the girl of the hour arriving in a fairytale carriage.

Fans had criticised the rapper for spending so much on jewellery for a three-year-old, but Cardi defended the gift on Twitter.

She revealed that she likes to be able to give her daughter the things she never had when she was growing up, hence the lavish gifts and her extravagant princess birthday party.
