Crooks have ram raided another luxury store in Melbourne’s CBD, the third brazen smash and grab in the past month.
Detectives have launched an investigation after a white 4WD ute drove through the front of the Dior store in Collins Street about 3.20am on Monday.
Sergeant Julie-Anne Newman said the ute reversed into the shop before two men got out of the vehicle and entered through the smashed glass window.
She said the pair were armed with a crowbar and yellow wheelie bins.
“The pair loaded the bins with various luxury goods including handbags,” Sergeant Newman said.
The group, which is believed to also include a getaway driver, were all wearing balaclavas. They then drove out of the store and east along Collins Street, north on Russell Street and were last seen heading down Rathdowne Street.
A crime scene has been set up while Melbourne crime investigation unit detectives work to establish the value and description of what has been taken from the store.
Just last week another high-end store in Collins Street – Bottega Veneta – was ram raided.
Police said a black SUV reversed into the store about 3.40am on February 24 before two men got out and swiped luxury goods.
And on February 2, the Berluti store, also on Collins Street, was targeted.
A dark-coloured SUV drove into the front window of the business about 4.30am before a man got out and stole bags, wallets and satchels worth about $75,000.
