Emma Chamberlain Debuts at Met Gala in Custom Louis Vuitton
Emma Chamberlain has arrived at the 2021 Met Gala.
The social media star touched down at the coveted fundraising benefit at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in custom Louis Vuitton. The sparkling, sequin- and rhinestone-studded dress features triangle cutouts, showing off her midriff and the sides of her stomach and an asymmetric train on her right side.
According to a statement from Louis Vuitton, the dress includes almost 21,000 microbeads, 9,000 rhinestones, 2,500 sequins, over 2,300 rococo style beads and nearly 2,000 Swarovski crystals. The dress also took 290 hours to hand-embroider.
Chamberlain’s jewelry and heels are also by the French fashion house. Her makeup look was done by Kelsey Deenihan, using products from Byredo.

The 20-year-old YouTuber has worked closely with Louis Vuitton since 2019, frequently attending its fashion shows in Paris in-person before the pandemic hit.
Chamberlain has skyrocketed to fame since she first landed on the internet’s radar creating candid videos on YouTube in 2017. On top of her partnership with the French label, she has also found success in founding her own coffee company called Chamberlain Coffee, due to her love for coffee. She is also the global brand ambassador and creative director for Bad Habit beauty.
She has also appeared on the cover of Cosmopolitan and Allure.
In total, Chamberlain has nearly 14 million followers on Instagram and over 10 million on YouTube. Her videos on YouTube have accrued over 1 billion views.
This year’s Met Gala, which focuses on the theme “In America: A Lexicon of Fashion.” has approximately 400 guests — a third of its normal amount in the past. Usually held annually on the first Monday in May, the event is a fundraising benefit for the Museum of Metropolitan Art in New York City. Last year, the Met Gala was ultimately canceled last year due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

How Emma Chamberlain Decided Between 2 Louis Vuitton Dresses For Her First Met Gala
“Honestly, the past few weeks have been so crazy that I didn’t even know there was a vegan menu,” Emma Chamberlain laughed, anticipating her first-ever appearance at the Met Gala. “That’s how you know I need to slow down and get excited, you know what I mean?” Emma spoke to POPSUGAR days before fashion’s biggest night, and now here she is, reveling in it like she’s done this pink carpet thing a thousand times before.
The YouTube connoisseur and entrepreneur with nearly 14 million Instagram followers already has brand campaigns under her belt and a solid relationship with the Louis Vuitton fashion house since 2019. It’s no surprise designer Nicolas Ghesquière customized her this high-low creation - along with drafting out two potential sketches - to cater to her taste. “I knew that I wanted something more open on top. There were a few things I had in mind, but generally I just gave everybody control,” Emma said.
The result of this particular collaboration with Louis Vuitton is a metallic studded gown covered in reflective crystals featuring triangle cutouts and an asymmetrical skirt. The chunky chainlink back secures the piece together and complements Emma’s circular earrings and gold stiletto heels.

It’s Met Gala night, baby!!! And Emma Chamberlain has arrived wearing a dazzling gold Louis Vuitton minidress with a dramatic asymmetrical hem, cutouts, and a plunging neckline on the red carpet. She also went with a retro look, wearing her hair curled at the ends and sporting bold green makeup, and the whole thing is giving me serious Twiggy vibes. The star, who boasts a casual 13.7 million IG followers, was just in Paris last week posting about bread and architecture and her Louis Vuitton ‘fits on the platform. (She’s clearly a favorite of LV’s creative director Nicolas Ghesquière.) Then she touched down in NYC to head to a dinner event on Friday night where she was photographed with Kendall Jenner. And now she’s at the Met Gala. What a life, right?

This marks Emma’s debut at the event, although the news reportedly wasn’t met with much excitement from fashion insiders. An anonymous publicist told the NY Post in August: “Personally, I don’t think the Met is cool anymore… it’s gone from super prestigious to [being] full of influencers.” Okay, chill!
Addison Rae and Olivia Rodrigo are rumored to be attending as well, and the guest list seems to be leaning toward a younger millennial and Gen-Z crowd with stars like Billie Eilish, Timothée Chalamet, Naomi Osaka, Amanda Gorman co-chairing the event. So this year potentially marks a new era and direction for the annual soirée, but if it gives us more amazing fashion moments like this, who could be mad?!
