Nadeshot responds to fans’ upset over 100 Thieves X Gucci collaboration

]

On July 13, 100 Thieves’ CEO Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag revealed the inspiration behind the team’s recent collaboration with Gucci. During the owner’s stream, fans of both Nadeshot and 100 Thieves voiced their issues with the development, regarding Gucci’s luxury price tags. In response to this, Nadeshot shared that Gucci approached him for the joint venture.

100 Thieves has become known for its high-end apparel brand in conjecture with its esports teams. The organization has become known as the “hoodie org” on Twitter — from when they were only selling apparel instead of winning in esports. That frame of mind has since changed but the point remains: 100 Thieves is a luxury clothing brand, and many are confused by their desire to collaborate with a brand like Gucci for more expensive items.

This is a genuine concern from fans, considering that Gucci’s last collaboration with an esports brand was with Fnatic in June of 2020. The European-based esports team created a limited-edition Gucci watch with the luxury brand that set buyers back $1,600.

Nadeshot speaks on Gucci x 100 Thieves

“I can’t believe some people’s responses,” Nadeshot said on stream. “If you were in my shoes, worked your ass off every day for the last ten years to make a name for yourself in gaming, then spent the last four years building a brand that you put your blood, sweat and tears into… you’ve sacrificed a lot. And a brand as prestigious and globally recognized as Gucci asks you to work with them and create a collaboration together… you expect me to say no?”

This was the first time that Nadeshot spoke about the collaboration between 100 Thieves and Gucci.

100 Thieves’ collaboration with Gucci will be revealed on Gucci’s website on Monday, July 19. There has been speculation that it will include clothing, according to what members of 100 Thieves have said on Twitter. However, that has not yet been confirmed.

100 Thieves announce their collaboration with Gucci

Esports and entertainment company 100 Thieves announced its first collaboration with luxury brand Gucci.

100 Thieves has prided itself on becoming an apparel and entertainment brand within esports. They’ve accomplished this by having a successful apparel line while hiring content creators and top-tier esports teams. Since 2018, when the company was first founded by former Call of Duty professional Matthew “Nadeshot” Haag, 100 Thieves have always been the luxury side of esports.

That luxury tagline is being taken to new heights with their recent announcement of the collaboration. Gucci is a luxury fashion house based in Florence, Italy. Its product lines include handbags, footwear, accessories, makeup and fragrances. The announcement video featured both 100 Thieves Co-owners Rachell “Valkyrae” Hofstetter and Jack “Courage” Dunlop. Alongside the co-owners were two professionals who have become household names with the 100 Thieves brand: Kim “Ssumday” Chan-ho and Kenneth “Kenny” Williams. The League of Legends and Call of Duty professional can be seen playing an old-school arcade game in the opening of the video.

100 Thieves CEO teases Gucci collab

100 Thieves recently announced their “always on” apparel line titled Foundations. To celebrate, the organization threw a party with some of their closest colleagues in the esports and gaming scene. Additionally, at the event, Nadeshot was seen wearing a Gucci jacket over a Foundations T-shirt. This wasn’t out of the ordinary until Nadeshot posted another picture of him in a Gucci shirt on July 4. These two obvious, but subtle, placements of Gucci items in his recent photos were teasing the upcoming collaboration with the brand.

How to obtain the collaboration

This 100 Thieves collaboration is dropping on July 19 on the Gucci website. On the website, Gucci has a quote concerning the collaboration.

“Drawing on the shared values of freedom and self-expression, the House unveils its latest foray into the world of esports through a collaboration with 100 Thieves — a Los Angeles-based brand of apparel, lifestyle and gaming.”

For those who have a My Gucci account, which can be obtained by logging in with any email, the collaboration will be revealed on Monday, July 19. Fans can sign up for an account on the Gucci website.

100 Thieves collaborate with Gucci

A few weeks ago, we saw G2 Esports collaborate with Ralph Lauren, as it looked to use some of the organisation’s professional stars as models for its latest line of clothing. Well, now it seems like 100 Thieves is jumping on the fashion trend, as the esports organisation has announced a collaboration with Gucci.

The collaboration is expected to draw “on the shared values of freedom and self-expression” and will include a line of apparel that is set to release as soon as July 19th. There hasn’t been much revealed about the collaboration just yet, but the official website for the crossover does feature a short clip that seems to have been filmed at 100T’s CashApp compound in Los Angeles.
