We caught up with Maggie Aurroco, the co-founder of the brand, to learn more. Q. For those who aren’t familiar, what is Bluboho? A. We are a Canadian fine jewelry company that creates both one-of-a-kind engagement rings, as well as unique everyday bracelets, earrings, ear crawlers, rings, and necklaces. Each piece is handcrafted, ethically sourced, and made in Canada. Q. What makes it unique? A. We approach each piece or collection with the intent of telling a story. The result is a collection which allows us to bookmark the moments in our lives … moments of growth, strength, achievement and love. Our jewelry is meant to capture a poignant moment in time — encapsulating the feeling that moment created. Our whimsical and unique jewelry pieces are also crafted here in Canada with recycled metals and ethically sourced gemstones.

Article content Bluboho Q. Who is the target customer? A. We aim to create jewelry for every woman — no matter what age or stage of life. We want to be able to create pieces that allow her to tell unfolding story — marking the quiet moments and the wild rides. What’s great about being available online is that we are able to reach women all over the world. We have work with guests from Australia to Denmark and everywhere in between, and of course we have a great customer base in our hometown of Toronto, where we have our three boutiques. Q. Is there a “hero” design in the collection? If so, which one and what makes it so popular? A. We are well known for our one-of-a-kind Beloved Collection, a curated selection of engagement rings that are each designed around a centre stone that is truly irreplaceable. After we create an engagement, we can never create that exact same ring again due to the unique nature of the centre stone and the setting designed to complement it. We mainly use Montana Sapphires.

Article content In terms of “hero” designs outside of our Beloved Collection, there are several popular collections our customers seek out including The Tree of Life, Tie Dye, and the Wanderess collection. We also just launched our latest collection, Oceana, which is seeing a lot of customer interest since launch. Q. What more can you share about how the pieces locally designed/made? A. We have a team of in-house designers, and we work with our craftspeople and jewellers to bring them to life. Our collections and jewelry pieces are primarily made of recycled yellow gold and ethically sourced stones. We are always working to make our design and production process better, and more sustainable. Q. What is the price range for bluboho designs?

Article content A. The intention for bluboho is to be accessible, while also offering unique and fine jewelry. We have pieces that start around $75 and go up to over $1,000. When it comes to engagement rings, our one-of-a-kind pieces range from $3,498 to $24,998.
