DaBaby’s Artist Wisdom Arrested for Attempted Murder, DaBaby Released From Questioning
Rising artist Wisdom, signed to DaBaby’s Billion Dollar Baby Entertainment label, has been arrested for attempted murder in connection to a recent shooting in Miami’s South Beach area.
According to police records obtained by XXL on Wednesday morning (June 2), the rapper, born Wisdom Awute, 21, and another man named Christopher Urena, 29, were taken into custody by Miami Beach police Tuesday (June 1) following the shooting that transpired near the tourist strip’s Prime 112 restaurant on 1st Street and Ocean Drive. Of the two people who sustained injuries, one was shot in the leg. The other was shot in the upper right rear torso, remains hospitalized and is paralyzed.
A rep for the Miami Beach Police Department told XXL in a statement today: “In less than 24 hours, Miami Beach detectives were able to ensure those responsible for the shooting were arrested and charged. We will now work closely with the State Attorney’s Office to ensure a successful prosecution.”
Wisdom has been charged with attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with a firearm for shooting victim Emerson Delgado. He is currently in custody with no bond. Urena has been hit with four offenses including attempted first-degree murder with a deadly weapon and aggravated assault with intent to commit a felony, third-degree grand theft and firearm possession by a convicted felon for shooting victim Williams, first name withheld.
The shooting incident stems from an alleged argument between two parties that escalated.
According to the police reports, after the argument, Urena got into a Chrysler 300, which was blocking the valet. The car did not belong to him. After Urena attempted to move the vehicle, he claims he was approached by men holding guns. Urena claims he was being shot at as he drove away. After fleeing the scene, Urena was stopped by police, who requested his ID. The man said his identification was in his black satchel and when police went to retrieve the ID, a gun magazine was also found in Urena’s bag. He couldn’t recall where the corresponding gun for the magazine was located.
The report additionally states that two men, Carlos Aviles and Emerson Delgado, were trying to get into their car, which was parked in front of Prime 112, around 11:20 p.m. on Wednesday evening (May 31) when they got into an altercation with a “famous musical entourage.” The argument escalated to the point where Delgado was allegedly struck in the face by a member of the other party. Delgado began to run away and Aviles identified Wisdom as the person who began chasing after Delgado. Wisdom reportedly pulled out a firearm and aimed it at Aviles, who says he feared for his life. Then Wisdom allegedly redirected his aim to Delgado, shooting him in the calf. Awiles identified Wisdom as the shooter. Wisdom was taken into custody after being located at JV Marriott Marquis Miami Hotel, where he was staying at the time. Wisdom reportedly refused to provide any statements to police and invoked his rights.
After the shooting, police detained several men in a Cadillac Escalade at a traffic stop on MacArthur Causeway. All individuals were taken in for questioning, and one of the men, Michael Awute, said he observed Urena shooting one of the victims in the back.
Urena was witnessed on Prime 112’s surveillance camera walking behind victim Williams before gunfire erupted, and Urena ultimately shot him in the back. Urena is also seen getting into the Chrysler 300 that doesn’t belong to him. One of the men in the Cadillac Escalade apparently tried to stop Urena from fleeing in the stolen car, to which he accelerated in the southbound direction. Due to friends of the man fearing for his safety as the car was being used as a weapon, shots were fired at the Chrysler 300.
Among the individuals taken in for questioning was DaBaby, born Jonathan Kirk, who was interviewed by police and later released. He doesn’t appear to be facing any charges. Baby’s attorney, Drew Findling, told TMZ yesterday, “Mr. Kirk has been released by the police. No criminal charges have been filed against him.”

Mercedes handed €20,000 fine for Russell tyre mix-up in Sakhir Grand Prix
George Russell leaves the Sakhir Grand Prix with the first points of his Formula 1 career, after the stewards opted to give Mercedes a fine – rather than disqualification – after they fitted the wrong tyres to the Briton’s car during a pit stop.
Russell, standing in for Lewis Hamilton who tested positive for Covid-19 ahead of the event, was dominating the race in Bahrain and looked set to score a remarkable maiden victory on Sakhir’s unique Outer Loop layout.

However, when Mercedes called both Russell and team mate Valtteri Bottas into the pits when the Safety Car was called out two-thirds into the race, there was a mix up and they accidentally fitted Bottas’ front tyres to Russell’s car.
The stewards heard that there was a “radio communications technical issue” which meant Russell’s crew did not hear the pit wall’s call to get ready for Russell because at the same time, a message from Russell was played out on top of that call.
“This is clearly a breach of the regulations and would normally involve a sporting penalty up to disqualification,” said the stewards in their ruling.

However, rather than penalising the driver, the FIA opted to fine the team because they say “in this case there are mitigating circumstances, additional to the radio issue referred to above”.
The stewards said: “Firstly, the team rectified the problem within one lap. This involved Car 63 [Russell] making another pit stop, thus dropping it further down the classification.
Foogiano Sentenced to Five Years in Prison After Melting Off Ankle Monitor – Report
Foogiano will be behind bars for a while after allegedly removing his government-issued ankle monitor and leaving it on the side of the road last December.
According to a report from the Athens Banner-Herald on Tuesday (May 4), a judge in Georgia’s Greene County Superior Court sentenced the 1017 Records artist to five years in prison after he pleaded guilty on Monday (May 3) to removing the ankle GPS device.
Music executive and Authentic Empire founder Boomman tweeted about Foogiano’s prison sentence earlier this week on May 3. He wrote, “Green County Just Gave @FoogianoDaMayor 5 years for cutting an ankle monitor for a gun charge that wasn’t his and was claimed by some one else this is beyond crazy 😥 we have to do something about this!”
Foogiano also alluded to the sentencing via Instagram, sharing a post featuring a black-and-yellow sign reading, “Free Foo,” and had a caption that read, “All my friends, family and supporters make this your profile pic ‘while I’m gone.'”
Meek Mill called for Foo’s freedom on May 3 as well, writing, “Free foogiano ….. don’t try to kill that man whole career about tryna protect his self years ago!”
Following Foogiano, born Kwame Brown, “melting off” the device, according to the Courier Journal back in March, he was on the run for about three months until he was arrested by a U.S. Marshal’s Office task force in Memphis on March 11. Foogiano was apparently in the city attending memorial services for the brother of Pooh Shiesty, who is also signed to Gucci Mane’s 1017 Records. When arrested, Foogiano was hit with a fugitive of justice without a warrant charge.
The Gutta Baby rapper had been ordered to wear an ankle monitor and was required to stay in his home state of Georgia after being taken into custody for possession of a firearm by a convicted felon in Barrow County, Ga. on Dec. 6, 2020. The rhymer’s December of 2020 arrest stems from a Barrow County sheriff’s deputy pulling over Foogiano’s vehicle for a faulty break light and overly dark-tinted windows. Although the rapper wasn’t driving a vehicle, when questioned about the firearm that was recovered from the car, Foogiano reportedly told the officer “he is a famous rapper and must have a gun because rappers get shot.”
Foogiano is a convicted felon and is prohibited from carrying a firearm. He was already on probation for a prior burglary conviction, so this offense was a violation of his probation.
Police also reportedly smelled marijuana when searching the vehicle and found a large amount of money. Three other individuals were also in the car, including the driver who had a gun, but was licensed to carry. All three people were let go.
Foogiano was released from jail a little over a week later after appearing in Greene County Superior Court and satisfying a $50,000 cash bond.
XXL has reached out to the Greene County Superior Court, Foogiano’s attorney and a rep for the rapper for a comment on this matter.
